The VOONLINE Fish Tank Mat is a 6 mm high-density foam pad placed underneath your aquarium. Its single most important job is to even out tiny imperfections between the tank base and the stand or cabinet surface. Glass tanks are extremely sensitive to an uneven base — a single grain of grit or a high spot creates a concentrated pressure point, and as the tank fills with water that stress point is exactly where the bottom pane cracks or shatters. By cushioning and levelling the whole footprint, this mat spreads the weight evenly across the entire base so no single point is overloaded — dramatically reducing the risk of a cracked or broken bottom.

How It Works

No stand surface is perfectly flat, and the underside of a glass tank is rigid. Placed between them, the compressible 6 mm foam conforms to both surfaces, filling gaps and absorbing high spots and debris. The full base of the tank then bears on the mat evenly, so the hydrostatic load of the water is shared across the whole pane instead of concentrating on a few points — which is what protects the glass from cracking.

How to Use

Clean the stand surface, lay the mat flat, and place the empty tank centred on top. Choose a mat at least as large as the tank's footprint and trim any overhang to size. Make sure no grit is trapped between the tank and the mat before filling.
